Business and pleasure shouldn’t strictly mix, but there are certainly similarities in their ideologies.

Your business should often reflect on who you are as a person. Whether that means you are strong and powerful, looking to make a difference in the world or standing out – a business is a front for your personality.

However, sometimes the two don’t mix. On one hand, it’s important to split the two, business relationships should strictly be business relationships, then you can also find solace in a nice home personal life.

That being said – two rules can be used in both walks of life.

Rule One – Don’t do stupid things

This is really it. The most important rule of business is simply not to do stupid things.

Now that doesn’t mean don’t take risks, but what this means is to think about these risks – and allow them to be calculated.

Essentially, you want to avoid making reckless, illogical, or poorly thought-out decisions that could significantly harm your company’s reputation, finances, or operations.

Put more emphasis on the importance of making sound, well-considered choices based on thorough analysis and good judgment, rather than impulsive actions that could lead to negative consequences.

And more importantly, rule number two.

Rule Two – Don’t forget rule number one!

It’s that simple. If in doubt, don’t, and that’s how to not only live your business life – but also your personal.

If there is that uneasy feeling in your stomach when a decision is being made, just leave it. You’ll walk away happier, and probably less out of pocket.

It sounds like a very simple rule, granted, but you really don’t know how many times it will save your skin – in all walks of life.
